WARMING CENTER TO OPEN DECEMBER 1, 2024
On December 1, the Warming Center at Beckley Community UMC in conjunction with the United Way officially opens. This is the fourth year that the City of Beckley Warming Center will be offering comfort on cold winter nights to all of God’s
children. We are also in partnership with New Vision Depot for the use of their cots, bedding packs, and UMCOR health kits. Read more about the Warming Center in the newsletter.
From Pastor David’s Desk…….
We are entering into the season of Advent, a time when we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and look forward to his return. The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season is beginning, with all the decorating, cooking, shopping, parties, and other treasured traditions. During this busy time, it is important that we remain focused on Jesus, who truly is the reason for this season. To read more of Pastor David’s thoughts on the Advent Season, see the newsletter.
DECK THE HALLS!!!
On November 24 right after church, Beckley Community UMC prepared the sanctuary for the Advent season with two trees, each representing one of the merged churches. Lights that wouldn’t light on one side were repaired on-site without having to go to Santa’s workshop. (So sorry Mr. Grinch!) Garland and banners were hung with care. Nativity scenes were expertly placed and the advent wreath assembled. All in all, the work was accomplished and everyone enjoyed the fellowship! See pictures and more about the “Hanging of the Greens” in the newsletter.
