Warming Center Update and Training

Beckley Community will once again be opening our facilities to house the Warming Center for the City of Beckley. There will be a training/information session for Warming Center volunteers on Tuesday, December 5th, at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall, which I encourage you to attend. We will be setting up the Fellowship Hall at some point this coming week with supplies from New Vision Depot and would appreciate your assistance as we ready the Warming Center to open by Monday, December 11th. We have committed to hosting the Warming Center through March 31, 2024, and have received funding to provide additional volunteer support and supplies.

The Warming Center will open as determined by the temperature with wind chill reaching 15 degrees overnight and volunteer availability. We will be implementing some new policies this year, to ensure the safety and security of our volunteers and guests.

The Warming Center is made possible by the commitment and dedication of volunteers from Raleigh Shared Ministries, other congregations, and community members. In addition to needing volunteers to staff the Warming Center, we also appreciate in-kind donations such as food, warm winter clothing, blankets, pillows hygiene items, etc.
